VULCAN TRAIL LANZAROTE

VULCAN TRAIL LANZAROTE

143 KMS and 4.200 gain of altitude meters.

At Vulcan Bike, first and foremost we are nature lovers. Furthermore, we like enjoying nature in every sustainable way possible.

So, we have been inevitably drawn to a particular activity that is experiencing spectacular growth: trail running.

Passionate about mountains and the art of running through them and seeing them for yourselves, we have created the Lanzarote Vulcan Trail: a bona fide challenge that traverses the island of Lanzarote from south to north and finishes by running around the idyllic island of La Graciosa, a final reward for our effort.

You can choose to run the whole trail in one go, which includes the boat crossing to La Graciosa. We will provide you with all the support you need during the run.

At any event, we recommend you come to the island a few days beforehand and take advantage of our suggested circular runs to get prepared, scout the terrain and get into shape for the final challenge. This can be combined very easily with a trip to the island with friends or family.

Otherwise, you can choose to take things more easily and complete the trail in five stages, with each stage being completely different from the last. We will take care of everything so you just need to worry about enjoying your favourite activity.

However you choose to take it on, you will run through the desert-like Ajaches Mountains, cross the recent lava flows of Timanfaya, traverse the unique landscape of La Geria (famous for its wines) and pass by the tempestuous Atlantic Ocean along the north-west coast. After this, you will tackle the toughest stage that takes you up and over the terrifying cliffs of Risco de Famara, along the Camino de Orzola to the northernmost town in Lanzarote, where we will take a boat for the short crossing that will drop us on the idyllic and unique island of La Graciosa for the final stage and well-deserved reward for such a great effort. You may even choose to stay an extra day on La Graciosa to enjoy the tranquillity, incredible beaches and magnificent gastronomy.

The Canary Island gastronomy, fabulous wines of Lanzarote and the wide range of cultural opportunities make the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa one of the most interesting and complete tourist destinations you could possibly imagine.
